SAB #SimpleStamping Saturday – Golden Honey Bee. How can another week have passed? It seems madness. That said, although it is still only early February, there is a lot of activity in the garden with Snow Drops, Crocuses and even a few Daffodils coming up. I just hope there is no snow this year or we will lose them. There’s a Storm heading our way for this weekend, so we may lose them anyway. The forecast if for high wind and heavy rain.
Today’s #SimpleStamping projects are using the Golden Honey paper from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue. This is a foiled paper and is proving to be very popular with my customers, and I am not surprised, it is stunning. It made it quite an easy choice for today’s Sale-a-Bration #SimpleStamping Saturday project. I have let the paper do most of the work on the firs two cards today. I must admit that my Avid version has none of the paper on at all, but please forgive me, I just got carried away!
The Simple/Quick version is basically just a piece of paper cut to fit the front of a Note card, a strip of one of the reverse sides and a couple of the bees fussy cut from the paper. I did allow this card to include Dimensionals, but the bees just had to be popped up! I used the ‘Hello’ sentiment from the Honey Bee Stamp set, but you could switch this for any sentiment you already have.
Although, the next card does us more of the Honey Bee stamps. There is a Bee Hive stamped in Crushed Curry, but again, I fussy cut this and the bees. I added an extra mat, simply so the ribbon I added had something reasonably robust to wrap around. The inside is stamped with a couple of the bee images from the stamp set.
The final version has none of the paper on it. I actually didn’t realise this until I came to write this post, but I am letting myself off. The card is stunning and I really want to share it. The top mat was going to be in Basic Black and I wanted something on it to hint to the other cards, with their honey comb patterned paper. To achieve this I formed a mask with four of the honey comb dies. I wanted the finished effect to be very subtle, so I sprayed Champagne Shimmer Mist diluted in Rubbing Alcohol over the mask and the Black card.
The look was exactly what I was after. A heat embossed gold bee hive, a gold die cut bee and some Gold Shimmer Ribbon seemed the ideal finishing touches. Do you think I succeeded?
