Top Tip Tuesday – No Naked Envelopes Part 4. I hope you are enjoying this mini series of ideas to make sure that your envelopes are well dressed.
Today my suggestion is using your dies to help you dress your envelopes. It may seem a bit odd to suggest a tool that makes holes in your envelopes, but I am pairing this with one of the suggestions I have already made. Pair your dies with Designer Series Paper for a really fun look that means you also have a lining in your envelope.
I initially thought that punches were the way to go, but most of them are large and many are the wrong way up for being the right way up on your envelope flap. So I thought I would have a look at dies. Many are not going to work, but quite a few will. What you are looking for is a smaller die that has little or no cutting other than the outline.
The two sets I have used here are the Bonanza Dies, from the Mini Catalogue, and Word Wishes, from the Annual Catalogue. Remember that if you are in the UK and don’t work with a Demonstrator, you can order any of the current catalogues from my Catalogue Page. I chose them because they did not have too many pieces on the inside of the dies that would need to be put back in. But also, it is clear to anyone what they are.
The only other thing to think about is the paper you put behind them. You want something that acts as a ‘solid’. What I mean is that, as you will only see a small amount of them, it shouldn’t matter that you can’t see more of the pattern. Your brain will understand them as a ‘solid’. Then, just remember that the other side is going to be seen as the envelope liner, so make sure it is the right way up and is also easy to ‘understand’ without seeing a larger piece.
So, what do you think? Are you going to give these a go? I do hope so. Remember that if you haven’t joined my Facebook Community Group yet, you can join and then share your crafty makes.
