Top Tip Tuesday No Naked Envelopes Part 2. Welcome back to my ‘No Naked Envelopes’ Mini Series on Top Tip Tuesday. Last week we looked at using Designer Series Paper to make your envelopes pretty, both inside and out. This week I am going to show you another option. This one is less ‘obvious’, but can be really elegant. Any guesses?
This time I am looking at using Embossing Folders as a subtle (or not!) addition to your envelope. Let me start by saying that I don’t know if this is going to cause any issues with your local Postal Service, so I urge you to check before you send any embossed envelopes through the post.
The process is very simple. You simply choose your embossing folder and then run all, or part, of your envelope through. Some of the more detailed folders, such as the Lace 3D folder, need to be used with a certain amount of care. The embossing is fine, but it will cause the back and front to ‘stick’ together, so be gentle when you separate the 2 layers.
For a really subtle effect, you may wish to only emboss the envelope flap. I think this is my preference, it seems more elegant, certainly for the more detailed 3D folders.
So, what do you think? Are you going to give this a go? Remember to try debossing as well, by simply turning over the envelope before running it through the die cutter. Which ever you do, it is so quick to do and really can make a plain envelope look really special.
