Its All Relative for ICC #060. I am going to be perfectly honest about this project. I struggled! I looked through all my stamp sets (and there are a few), but I couldn’t find a single one that had any relative mentioned. I then tried looking outside of the box and remembered the Layering Alphabet dies. These saved the day!!
Although I don’t have a sister, I decided that ‘Sister’ was the way I was going to go. Maybe because I don’t have a sister? I chose a familiar colour scheme of Pool Party and Petal Pink for my first sample, switching to Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black for the second version. These are all colours that are in the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper. That said, I have actually used paper from the Colour Collections Designer Series Paper stacks. I keep forgetting I have these, so thought it was worth getting them out and actually using some.
The dies take a little bit of practise to get right, but as long as you keep the card lined up with one of the marks on the die, you won’t go too far wrong. As you need to use the ‘parent’ die for every letter, you do have to cut each one separately, so it takes a little while to get a long word cut. ‘Sister’ was not too much of an issue and I soon had them all cut and lined up. I cut the layers down to 3-3/4″ tall ready to layer onto a landscape card base. I only needed a small piece of the Designer Series Paper and could have left it at that, but I felt the card needed more.
As I have been working with the Parisian Blossoms Suite, I had a look at what was in the Cherry Blossom die set. The branch was perfect. It appeared to have been made for the bottom left corner of the card. I die cut a selection of the floral and leaf dies that don’t need any stamping and built up a picture on the branches. The finishing touch was a small ribbon bow.
Of course, I also had to stamp inside my card! I used the matching stamp set, from Forever Blossoms, from the Bundle of the same name. I used Petal Pink and Pear Pizzazz for the Subtle card, Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green for the Regal version.
I really like the look of the subtle colour scheme, but I am not sure about the darker version. I think it shows up reasonably well, but I am just not sure of the finished look, it may be the Crushed Curry that is the issue. What do you think?
