#SimpleStamping Saturday – Breathtaking Bouquet. As we are still in the middle of our Christmas festivities at The Old Stables, I am still bringing you a #SimpleStamping Saturday, but no video. I had intended to shoot the video, but time ran out, for a number of reasons (more on that in a bit). The projects all use the Breathtaking Bouquet background stamp, which is on page 31 of the new Mini Catalogue. Breathtaking it certainly is, but please don’t think of it as a simple background stamp, it is far more than that.
My #SimpleStamping project is indeed, very simple. I stamped the image on a Whisper White Notecard, having masked the back of the card with Sticky Notes to make sure that the pattern was only on the front of the Notecard. I selected Watercolour Assortment 2 to colour the image, blending the colour with a Blender Pen. It really s a great way to add colour to your projects for relatively little investment. In fact, the items I used on the #SimpleStamping project are just sufficient for you to select a FREE item from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue. Perfect.
For the more Casual crafter I have switched Notecards for both types of Whisper White A4 card and a pack of the Brights A4 Card. Still using the Tuxedo Black ink, but this time on a Whisper White Mat. The colouring is with one of my favourite colouring tools, Stampin’ Blends. I matched these as closely as I could to the Watercolour Pencils and simple coloured the images as before. The finished piece is mounted on a Flirty Flamingo Mat and then onto a standard A6 card. I decided to ‘pop’ the pieces up by using Dimensionals to add it to the Card base.
The project for the Avid Crafter is one of the reasons I ran out of time and was not able to film the usual video. I decided to cut into the image to make my own decoupage layers and ended up with three layers, as well as the base layer. This all took time to colour and cut. The colouring does not need to include ALL of each layer, just the areas that are going to be seen. For me, what is going to be seen includes the outline of any area that was to be covered up, so I did draw round the edge of every layer in the appropriate colours. I have always bee a fan of creating my own decoupage images, so although it is time consuming, I enjoyed every moment. And before you ask, no, this would not go through the Post as a standard letter. This is only for someone who is worthy of a Large Letter Stamp (or is local enough for hand delivery!)
So, which one would you make? Are you a Watercolour Pencil Fan, or are you more of a Stampin’ Blends person? One layer, or lots?
Something approaching ‘normal’ service will resume very soon. I am going to make a few changes in the New Year, firstly, I will be starting a regular Facebook Live most weeks. This will be added to YouTube, so my YouTube followers will still be able to join me, just not live. I am still trying to work out the best time to ‘go live’ that fits in around other commitments I have, so keep your eyes peeled. Tuesday afternoon is likely, but not set in stone just yet.
