Little Ladybug for Inspire Create Challenges. In the UK today is a Bank Holiday, Boxing Day, and is normally a day for going outside and walking off the excesses of the day before. As the weather the past week has been wet and windy, the real question will be if we can face going out. As I write this post the forecast is hopeful, so maybe we will get some fresh air as we drudge through the mud that has built up on the track we live on.
Another common activity for Boxing Day, certainly when I was a child, is to write our Thank You letters. This is something I still do, although I tend to write in cards, rather than in a letter (I wonder why!). So, with this in mind my project today is a Thank You card. I am using the sketch from today’s Inspire Create Challenge as my jumping off point. The Little Ladybug stamp set grabbed my attention. This is the FREE Host set available during Sale-a-bration, which starts on 3rd January 2020. The set is fun and cute, as well as having a Thank You sentiment. Perfect for today.
I decided to run some Whisper White card through the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing folder, having first swiped my Pear Pizzazz Ink pad across it. When you run the embossing folder through, the ink is transferred to the card with a de-boss effect. I repeated the embossing, without the ink, on a piece of Pear Pizzazz card and layered the white over it.
The Ladybugs (Ladybirds in the UK) have been stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento and coloured with Blends. These images are really easy to colour. I added the ‘Thank You!’ sentiment and then die cut everything with the Layering Circle dies. I wanted to layer the images onto a piece of Poppy Parade Ink, but the difference was too stark. I added some dashes around the edge for a stitched look, simply using the narrow Journaling Pen. This gave me exactly the effect I was looking for.
It was then a simple case of layering everything up, trimming the die cut circles to match the sketch and adding some Basic Pearls. Oh, and with my new resolution to stamp the inside of cards, I added the row of Ladybugs in the bottom right hand corner of the inner. The card base is Gray Granite, which ties in with the grey I used to colour.
