Conveyor Belt Crafting with Mercury Acetate. WOW! What a few days. On Thursday I worked overnight to help with the UK Election Count in Abingdon. It was a fascinating event to be part of, but it has really hit my brain. I honestly can’t remember the last time I did an overnighter, I was certainly a LOT younger and it took much less time to get over. But here I am on Saturday morning writing the post for TODAY!!!! This is just so wrong!! I always have posts finished at least a full day ahead.
Of course, because I need to get this finished quickly, this morning is the time that my Laptop has decided to do an update, and a long one at that. As I write this I am wondering if I will actually get everything finished in time to still call this a ‘Morning’ Post! But here we are and I am just going to make the best of it.
I did manage to film the accompanying video yesterday. It is not my usual #SimpleStamping Saturday post, but a post about how to make LOTS of stunning cards in a very short time frame. In the video I explain my process and show you how I made the first half dozen cards, then I stop the camera and made the rest off camera. I set a timer so I could let you know exactly how long the whole process took.
On Camera I made half a dozen and, including some waffle, I made them in just under 15 minutes. Off camera I completed the full 34 cards in a further 45 minutes, so about an hour for all 34 cards. I had prepared the card bases and mats before I started, but I had to cut the paper and the Mercury Acetate as part of the process. What was a bit of a surprise was that I could use Snail Adhesive to put the whole thing together. This really helped with the speed, although I did have to put a refill in along the way.
I am really pleased with the final result. The cards are more ‘Winter’ than ‘Christmas’, but that is fine. the Mercury Acetate adds a lot to the cards and including this definitely makes the final cards more than the sum of their parts. Once I had turned the timer off I added Basic Rhinestones to the cards (three on each) and stamped the inside, all together this took about another 45 Minutes. So, what this means is that if you want to add even more to your cards, you can still make 34 in under 2 hours. That is only 3 minutes per card. Leave them ‘plain’ and you cut that down to just 1.75 minutes per card!!!
So, what do you think? Do you like the cards? Are you going to give Conveyor Belt Crafting a try? The key is to start with stunning products, which the Feels Like Frost and Mercury Acetate are. Have a simple design and do all the basic tasks at once. The new Mini Guillotine Trimmer really helped with this. I could have used the new full size Trimmer to cut the paper and acetate, but the Mini Guillotine is a lot faster for both of these. If you want one of the Mini Guillotine Trimmers you can either join my Team now and add it to your Starter Kit, or wait until 3rd January and you will get it FREE as part of the Sale-a-Bration Joining Offer. Let me know if you would like more details about joining my Team. There is some information HERE, but I am always happy to have a conversation.
