Top Tip Tuesday – Easy Fancy Folds

Top Tip Tuesday – Easy Fancy Folds. I have a reason for highlighting some Easy Fancy Folds today, but at the moment I can’t possibly tell you why just yet. Come back tomorrow and you might be able to work it out.

Top Tip Tuesday - Easy Fancy Folds

I think many new stampers and crafters shy away from ‘Fancy Folds’, but some of them are really easy. Today I want to highlight just 2 very easy folds. Both use half a sheet of card stock (International A5). I have used the Metric Plate for my Simply Scored Board because that makes it even easier. You may not be aware of some of the measurements on the Metric Board, or why they are there. So here goes.

Top Tip Tuesday - Easy Fancy Folds

The first fold is a simple concertina fold, or tri-fold. All I needed to do was score my card, with the long edge at the top, at 7 and 14 cm. The A5 card is 21 cm in landscape, so these scores give you 3 equal panels. I chose to trim the front 2 panels at an angle for an even more dramatic look on my card. This final cut is not at a set angle, take a look at the video to see how I cut mine.

The second fold is one that is so simple if you have the Metric Plate. On this you will find a line at 52.5 mm (5.25 cm) this is exactly where you need to score with the long side at the top. Score once, then turn the card through 180° and score again. Once you fold and burnish the sides you will find that they will meet perfectly in the middle. Again, you can see how I did this in today’s video.

I hope you will agree that these are both at the simple end of the scale of ‘Fancy Folds’, and that any stamper or crafter will be able to use these to give a different effect on their cards. I used items from the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley, but you can use anything you have in your crafty stash.

Hi, I have not provided the dimensions for the Paper this time. The ZIG ZAG card would be impossible for me to provide the dimensions for as the angle of the cut will vary for each card. The post is more about trying the fold than making the actual project, which is why I only showed how to score and cut the card.
