#SimpleStamping Saturday – Swirly Frames and Sip, Sip, Hooray. Today I am looking at stretching your craft supplies, but still acknowledging that we are in the lead up to Christmas.
I selected the Swirly Frames and Sip, Sip, Hooray stamp sets to make some contemporary wreath cards. The largest circle in the Swirly Frames set is the perfect size for the front of a card and I can see it as a wreath. So, for my Quick and Simple card I just stamped it twice, once in Mossy Meadow and once in Shaded Spruce. To add a fun element, I added some of the Red Rhinestones that are in the Annual Catalogue. I think the finished card is a perfect Contemporary Wreath.
To step the project up a bit, as well as adding coloured card, I pulled the Sip, Sip, Hooray stamp set and the two leave pieces. I still stamped the circle in Mossy Meadow, but I also added the Sprigs in Shaded Spruce and the Mint in Mossy Meadow. For this card I added some Real Red Ink and stamped ‘HOORAY!’ in the centre of the wreath. Again, I added some Red Rhinestones to the Mint and then matted the finished piece on Real Red and Shaded Spruce.
The final version adds some heat embossing in Gold for the Mint and the sentiment. I switched out the Red Rhinestones for the Holiday version. These have Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce, Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie and Night of Navy gems, so match many of the Designer Series Papers in the Autumn/Winter Catalogue. Because I was using these gems, I switched out the Real Red card for Cherry Cobbler. All of the coloured card I used is in the Regal Colour Family, so you can get all the colours just by buying the mixed card pack.
So what do you think? Did I convince you to take a second look at your existing Stamp Sets to see if you can use any of your non Christmas supplies in a Christmas way?
