Inspire.Create.Challenge – Fancy Fold Time. Did you guess from yesterday’s post that we were going to have a Fancy Fold Challenge over at the Inspire.Create.Challenge group? The folds I showed you yesterday are some of the most simple you are likely to find, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. A simple fold well executed is better than a complicated one not done well. Dare I say, keep watching to see the latter!
I had decided on my card before I really thought about how I would be able to recreate it on a video AND how I would get any half decent phtos of it. Seriously, Window Sheet and a light box are not a great combination at any time, but make your project in white and it becomes almost impossible. But, I persevered and I may have just about got away with it. What do you think?
One of the real pluses of this card is that it only needs one set of measurements, so whether you use International A4 or North American Letter size card, the measurements are the same!! If nothing else this is a result. That said, I am only providing the scoring in inches as I used the Simply Scored without the Metric Plate.
For the figures I used the Snow Globe scenes dies and Thick Whisper White Card. In fact I used Thick Whisper White Card for all of the card elements. Because I was concerned that the legs would not be strong enough if I only used one layer of card, I used 2 and stuck them together. I cut some window sheet so it was the same dimensions as a half sheet of card stock, cut long and thin, so this will vary depending on your standard card stock size. The rest of the dimensions are at the bottom of this post.
As I was building a snow scene, I added Dazzling Diamonds and Ice Glitter to the peaks of the concertina piece, the trees and the church. I also added glitter to the top element to make it look more like icicles. For the original version I used the tree dies to form the icicles, but for the video version I simply cut the card to form the shapes. I think the effect is just as good, and trust me when I say it was a lot easier and quicker.
When you build your scene do remember to put things that appear smaller at the back and things that appear larger at the front. I am thinking specifically about the Church and the Stag. I urge you to put the Stag at the front and the Church at the back. Once you have built your scene, simply attach everything to your Window Sheet with Tear and Tape, remembering to cover the back of the card with the last piece of glittered card to cover the Tear and Tape.
So, are you going to enter the Challenge? I do hope you will. Just click on the image above to hop over to the Challenge Website and give it a go. You have almost 2 weeks to submit your card, so plenty of time.
