Feels Like Frost and Christmastime is Here Explosion! It has been a while since I did a 3D item, so I thought I would bring you an Explosion Box, which is almost 3 boxes in one! But, the best laid plans meant that having decided on The Feels Like Frost papers for the main feature of the box, they are currently out of stock in Europe (but due back in soon!) So, instead, the version I make on camera uses the Christmas Time is Here papers. Simply changing the paper give the whole piece a totally different feel, so I am glad I had to substitute.
The treat in the middle of the boxes is a Lindt Snowman, so I am hoping they will be readily available outside the UK. The size of the chocolate treat determined the size of the inner box and the height of all of them. The measurements are at the bottom of this post, so you can find them all there. But the final dimensions are 3″ x 3″ x 2-1/4″. Because I have added the additional boxes on the diagonal, I had to measure the diagonal to work out the sizes for the additional 2 layers. The papers are all cut just 1/8″ smaller than the sides of the boxes, giving just 1/16″ as a margin. As I said, the measurements are all at the bottom of the page.
I have made the lid 1/16″ larger than the base of the box to allow it to be added on top easily. If you make the lid of any box the same size as the base you will probably find it is too tight. Adding just 1/16th makes all the difference.
