Better Late than NEVER – 7,000 Subscriber Craft Room Tour. What better day to finally get round to showing you my updated Craft Room, my Birthday! I had promised I would do a new tour as soon as I hit 7,000 YouTube Subscribers, well that was about a month ago! OOPS! To be honest, I simply needed to find time to clear up the bomb site that my room had developed into. That day finally came last weekend. Totally unplanned, so not preceded by the usual feeling of dread! Of course, now I need to keep it tidy!!!
There are only a few changes since my last tour, but they have made a huge difference to how the room works. For a start, I have bought a new Laptop desk. This one faces the wall, rather than the end of the main run of units. The old one was OK, but in the winter, even with a duvet over the door to the garage, it was very cold. I still have the old table, which I can use as extra space if I need it while typing.
The main change is the addition of the new, larger, peg board at the window end of my desk and moving my filming area further to the middle of the room. With windows in the roof, this means I am less likely to have awkward sun coming in. It also feels like I have more room to work, but that may just be in my mind. I also moved my Ink pads into their new Stampin’ Up! Storage. I love the versatility of this modular storage, and it fits perfectly on my shelving unit. All my Annual Stamp Sets are above the colour storage, and the seasonal items are to the left on another shelf. It makes it much easier for me if I know that Seasonal is all in one place, so if I am posting about Seasonal, that is where I go.
I bought a new craft trolley, this time from Hobbycraft. I really liked my Ikea one, but as the Hobbycraft one was not as much, I thought i would get that instead. This may not have been the best idea. Yes, it was less money, but it is not nearly as substantial, so I will see how it goes. I do like having my punches in it so they are easier to see and get hold of, plus it released a drawer, which is always good news. When I was doing my sort out, I was determined to find additional space from somewhere so that I did not feel as though I was trying to squeeze everything in. There are a few things that I have kept that I could still get rid of, so I do still have room to grow, if I need it.
The new unit with all my stationary was a great investment. This did come from IKEA and it was a bit more (OK, a LOT) than I had intended to spend, but it is perfect for my needs. My Photo Box sits on top well, so I really do think it was worth the investment.
It is not one of those amazing Craft Rooms that we all dream of having, but it is a functional space that gives me the room I need to be creative and room for the Admin I have to do. There are a lot of things I would change if I were designing the space from scratch, but I inherited the colour and the floor, so I am just working with what I have. But enough from me. Do you like it? I would love to hear from you, so either leave a comment here or over on my YouTube Channel.
