Top Tip Tuesday – Frosted Foliage Etched Foil Technique. I recently saw a YouTube video from Jennifer McGuire showing this technique and I just fell in love with it and had to give it a go. So here you are, my take on the Etched Foil Technique. I hope you fall in love with it too.
It is really easy too. You need to start with Foil Card, ideally one that is not too shiny, which means that all of the Stampin’ Up! foil cards would work well, with the possible exception of the Black. All you need to do is drop your Embossing Buddy a few times on the foil (don’t rub or you could scratch the foil).
Next you simply stamp your image with Versamark Ink and then add Clear Embossing Powder. Heat carefully and you are done. I used a disposable duster cloth to polish the foil to get the Embossing Buddy off the card. It is as simple as that.
The finished effect is amazing and it does actually look like the foil is etched, even though you know it is not. In the video I show you the results on all the foil card we have (other than the black, which I did not try). I also show you how I made the card I chose to highlight this technique. This is only one card of what I think could be many in the coming weeks.
I have used the Frosted Foliage stamp set and Frosted Frames dies (buy them as a Bundle and save 10% on the total price!) and chose a very different colour scheme. Champagne Foil, Petal Pink and Terracotta Tile with Petal Pink Gems to add even more ‘bling’. I think it works, but do you? Would you give this colour scheme a try?
