#Simplestamping Saturday Meets Ink Stamp Share Colour Challenge Blog Hop. Well that was a long title! If this is your first visit to my website ‘Welcome’. You will have gathered that you have arrived in the middle of a regular feature. My #Simplestamping Saturday projects take one design and make a Quick and Simple version, then a more stepped up, Casual Crafter, version, before adding lots of technique and product with the Avid version. I hope you enjoy your visit and if you are a returning visitor, I am sorry I have posted a little later than usual.
This month’s Ink Stamp Share Blog Hop is a Colour Challenge. We have to chose any 3 of 5 colours, and they are a very interesting selection of colours!
Which colours would you choose? I found it really difficult, but I finally landed on Mint Macaron, Petal Pink and Purple Posy. I think Purple Posy was going to make it onto the list which ever other colours I chose. Why? Because it is now available!! I am really pleased with my final choice, particularly once I had made my first card. And guess what, I made my Avid Card first. Mostly I start with my Simple card, so this was an interesting way to work. Rather than adding technique and product, I was paring down. I actually found it a really refreshing way to work.
As ever, my Quick and Simple card only uses stamps, ink and a note card. I have chosen the First Frost Stamp Set, which is one of my absolute favourite sets. You can make is soft and subtle, as I have today, or give it much more ‘punch’ simply by changing your colour scheme. But I have gone for the subtle end today. The only ‘techniques’ I have used are some ‘stamping off’ to get really pale colours, and some ‘Post It Note’ masking. I provide step by step details in the video, so you are not alone if you want to have a go.
For my next version I added Coloured Card, a punch, some pearls and some fussy cutting. The card still came together really quickly, so with just a few additional products you can make a really impressive card. The main ‘technique’ on this card was making the punched pieces smaller than the original punch size. This is not difficult and works really well for lots of our punches. I show how to achieve this look in the video.
My final version, which as I mentioned, was actually my first, introduces the matching Dies. That’s it, nothing more than that, so if you have a die cutting machine, why not get the matching dies and have a go at this version. Some of the images were stamped before being die cut, but some were simply just die cut in coloured card.
So did you enjoy these cards? Which one would you have a go at? I always say that how difficult or easy a card is should not be why you choose to make it. Sometimes you have time to try a more involved project, but often, even the most avid crafter needs a quick card, so the single layer card may be the most appropriate.
