Rooted in Nature Two Tone Embossing and Mask Card for the Boys. Welcome back to my Blog for a pair of really special cards AND another Blog Hop. This time I am hopping with the Stampers Showcase and a theme of Happy Fall!
My husband and I know a strangely high number of people whose birthdays are in the latter part of the year. This was always a challenge in the days before I started making quite as many cards as I do now. Having started my Stampin’ Up! business I know make well over 600 cards and other projects in any one year, just to feed my YouTube Channel and this blog.
Of course, when you need 2 cards for 2 friends who share a Birthday, then this is perfect, particularly as they are both men. So today I am sharing their Birthday cards. With luck the guys will have already received the cards (as their Birthday was last week), so this won’t spoil the surprise. Of course, it is more than likely that they are not going to visit either my Blog or my YouTube channel, so the timing is probably not an issue.
I spotted a card on Pinterest that used the skeleton leaves from Rooted in Nature with 2 metallic embossing powders. Initially I thought I would use a similar design for one of my OnStage Swaps. Now they are not that complicated to make, nor do they take that long, but I could see that the design could end up looking a bit sloppy if I made 40 or more. Happily I can use a stepped up design for these cards.
Doing 2 tone embossing is really very straightforward. You just need to make sure that you add the first colour to one end only. To get a bit of graduation of colour, give it a good ‘flick’ on the back so that some of the excess sticks to the ‘naked’ area. Once you have done this you can add the second colour.
I decided I wanted some additional texture on the card so, not only did I add a subtle background with a mask. I also heat embossed the Burlap Ribbon with Copper Embossing Powder. Do you like the finished result? Did you notice that for once I decorated the inside on camera? Please leave a comment before you hop off.
