Inspire Create Challenge – Very Versailles Sympathy. Welcome to another Challenge Post. This one is one of those difficult subjects – Sympathy. It is the type of card we really never want to have to make, but unfortunately one that we will find we do. I hope you find my project interesting, even if it is a difficult subject.
There are lots of great projects over on the Inspire.Create.Challenges site, so please make sure you go and have a look at what the others have come up with. Just click on the image below to hop straight over there – BUT take a look at mine first!!!
I thought for quite a while about this before I came up with my design. My thought process was that this is the type of subject you probably want to use a stamp set you are familiar with. I have been using Very Versailles quite a bit, so decided that was the one to pull. The palette is a pretty typical Sympathy scheme, Basic Gray and Black with a hint of Silver to lift it a little. With this in mind I thought I would try heat embossing the leaf image, not expecting it to really work, but guess what? It does, and really well at that.
I wanted something patterned behind the heat embossing, so went through all my patterned paper until I found the perfect image in the Come Sail Away paper. I think it is perfect for this card, it breaks up the background without pulling the eye away from the focal point.
Die cutting ‘Sympathy’ in silver foil also helped to lift the card a little. I use the word dies from Well Written so often, they are the perfect size for cards. Add a sentiment from the matching Well Said Stamp set and the card is finished.
