Colour Combo Blog Hop September 2019

Colour Combo Blog Hop September 2019. This is my first Blog Hop with the Colour Combo crew, and boy was this an interesting Colour Combo. Call Me Clover, Mint Macaron and Coastal Cabana are not colours I would ever have thought of putting together. But, when I pulled the ink pads out it struck me that actually they are a great combination because Mint Macaron is almost the mid point between the other two. Or put it another way, if you were to mix a little Call Me Clover with some Coastal Cabana, I think you would end up with a colour not that far from Mint Macaron. With that in mind I went to work.

I have not done much ‘playing with colour’ recently, so I thought I would rectify that with this project. I dug out my craft mat (and a pair of gloves!) and started to play. This is a perfect project for Ink Refills because you can add the colour exactly where you want it. I tried a few combinations; some random drops, an ombre effect and then a diagonal ombre. This was the one I went for.

Just scribble the colours where you want them on your craft mat, then spray with water and drop a quarter sheet of Shimmery White Card in it. I used a piece of kitchen paper on the back of the card to help absorb any excess ink, this also means that your ink is less likely to be too wet on the front of the card. Leave the card to dry and then cut it down to the size you need. Remember that no two pieces will be the same, and that is one of the great things about this technique. Each project is unique.

I decided to use the same layout (basically) as yesterday’s card, probably because I recorded the videos a couple of days apart and forgot they were going to be going out on adjacent days. As I am trying to get a few weeks ahead to cover my holiday, I have produced something like 15 projects in the past 2 days, so it is hardly a surprise that I have no idea when everything is due to go out!!

Anyway, having made my background, I cut a narrow strip of Shimmery White Card and started stamping on it. I used the Tasteful Textures stamp set. The wood grain was stamped in 2nd generation Call Me Clover with Mint Macaron over the top. This strip was layered on top of Call Me Clover, Mint Macaron and then Coastal Cabana (I punched a piece out of the Coast Cabana before adding it to the layering). The sentiment was stamped in Coastal Cabana and punched out, holes added at each end with the Trio Punch before Mint Macaron Textile Ribbon being added. I cut the Coastal Cabana punch in half and added these behind the Shimmery White piece. Add everything to a card front and you are done. Which do you prefer, the Call Me Clover or Mint Macaron version. I know my favourite, but I would love to hear which you prefer. Just leave a comment at the bottom of this post.

To see exactly how I put the card together, why not take a look at the video (click the image above), then pop back here and take a look at Caroline’s project by hitting the ‘Next’ Button:
