Top Tip Tuesday – Heat Embossing for Watercolouring. Welcome back to my Website and another Top Tip Tuesday. Today’s tip was inspired by a question from one of the Team. They were trying to heat emboss on the new Fluid 100 Watercolour paper, but not getting the results they were after. I thought I would try to replicate the issues they were experiencing and share those results with you.
To make sure I everything was the same, I cut all the card I used to the same size, used the same stamp and, as far as possible, heat the powder for the same length of time. The results were interesting, well if you are a bit sad like me!!
I used Shimmery White Card, Fluid 100 and our retired Watercolour Paper. So the results would be easier to see, I chose to use our Copper Embossing powder, and this is where it gets a little interesting. The Copper Embossing Powder gave me very good results on all the cards, but, since shooting the video, I have tried the same experiment with Gold Embossing Powder. Very different results. The image above is Copper on Shimmery White.
The image above is Copper on the retired Watercolour card. The Gold Embossing Powder did not work at all well on the Fluid 100 Card; it looked burnt and soaked into the card. What I did find was that if I used the Stamparatus and repeated the whole process twice, I got a good result.
The image above is Fluid 100 with Copper. So, the conclusion I would make is that if you want to have a quick result using a stamp on a block, then Copper Embossing Powder is your friend. If you are prepared to take a little longer and repeat the stamping and embossing, then you can get really good results with the Gold Embossing Powder.
Oh, and before you ask, no I have not tried any of the other Embossing Powders as the query was to do with Gold and Copper Powders!
