Stamp n Hop August Colour Challenge Tasteful Textures. You have just arrived from Narelle Fasulo in Australia. If this is your first time on my site, Welcome! I am Liz Yuille (aka Old Stables Crafts), I live in a very rural area of Oxfordshire in the UK. Thank you for dropping by and I do hope you enjoy my project. I am just so excited about hopping with these amazing people, I can’t believe that I am! This month’s theme is all about Colour, I love a Colour Challenge, but I was not sure about this combination at all. Never one to run away from a challenge, I just didn’t think about it for a few days. Then the penny dropped and I knew what I wanted to do.
A favourite technique (that I had forgotten about!!!), is to do ink smooshing. You need to use either Watercolour or Shimmery White card as there is a lot of water involved. I tend to use a piece that is just a little too large and then trim it down once you have finished the background. It is really easy though.
Simply scribble ink onto some Cling Film using the side of your Stampin’ Write Markers, spray with some water and drop your card on it. Press the back to make sure the ink moves around, then pick it up, turn it over and there you are. If there are any areas that are very wet, you can absorb the excess ink with some kitchen paper. Then just leave it to dry. If you are worried that the paper has curled up too much, pop a large acrylic block or other flat weight on it. The card will soon flatten out.
Once I have finished my background and trimmed it to size, it was a simple matter to add some silver embossing. I used the Tasteful Textures stamp set. None of the images in Tasteful Textures will ever give ‘perfect’ embossing as the images have a vintage feel to them, but that is part of the charm. I applied a lot of Embossing Buddy before I added the stamped images in Versamark. This ensures that you don’t get stray embossing powder. The finishing touches for the front of the card were three layers of the die cut word ‘Happy’ (from the Word Wishes dies) in Lovely Lipstick (use the middle of the larger mat, no one will know!!) and adhered two short lengths of Lovely Lipstick Mini Grosgrain Ribbon to each end of the word.
I layered the watercoloured background to a mat of Lovely Lipstick, the one you die cut from, and then added that to a card base of Blueberry Bushel. The inside of the card has one of the sentiments from Tasteful Textures. I used the same Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp up so there were two colours; another really useful technique to have in your ‘tool box’. Oh, and I added some Granny Apple Green Glitter Dots!
Once again, thank you for visiting my blog today and I hope enjoyed the visit.
