Sailing Home Bridge Card – Lots of Dimension in a flat envelope! I have really enjoyed playing with the Come Sail Away Suite in the Annual Catalogue. It is great for my family, my brother in particular, because he and I spent many hours ‘mucking about’ in boats when we were younger. When I saw this suite I knew I had all I needed to make Birthday and ‘Just Because’ cards for the coming year. But it is fantastic for more than people who enjoy sailing. Anyone who enjoys the beach, rivers, the seaside, will love the calm feeling that this set brings.
Today’s project is a Bridge Card, and (sorry North America) I only have dimensions for the International C6 sized envelope, and in metric units.
Although this looks quite complicated, it actually is more fiddly than complex. The video is going to be your friend here, although I have put the measurements in the usual place at the bottom of this page.
For my sample card I coloured all the die cut elements, but I thought I would change things a bit for the one I made in the video, so I have gone for a more monochrome look, leaving all the die cut images uncoloured. I used two colours so there is a little more interest and it ties in to the patterned paper better than only using one colour. The bridge element is just patterned paper glued to card and then fussy cut; you do have to use the card to give you the rigidity you need for this style of card. I used a retired 1-3/8″ circle punch for the compass, but a circle die would work as well.
So, which version do you prefer, the coloured or uncoloured version? I know which one I prefer, but I’m not sharing that yet. Do let me know in the comments below here or on YouTube.
