One Stamp at a Time Friend Like You End of Summer. If you have joined me from Jo Anne Hewins in North Carolina, welcome, I hope you will enjoy your visit.
Now I am going to say this right up front. In the UK the summer only really started recently and for me, continues until after I have had my Summer Holiday in September. Just saying!! But I have embraced the theme and I am bringing you a sunset project. This felt right for ‘Summer’ and ‘End’. That’s my excuse and I am sticking to it!!
I chose the Friend Like You Bundle for this project, this includes the Friend Like You stamp set and the Friendly Silhouettes dies. I need to admit something here too. When filed my project I totally forgot that we are asked to make a card and ‘something else’. I put my thinking cap on and came up with this mini box. Made in Basic Black card and using the palm tree die, this coordinates well with my card. I will try to remember to make a similar project soon, and will include the measurements of the box in that.
For now, let’s just concentrate on the card. I punched a mask from a piece of card, using the 2″ circle punch, and used this to mask my top mat, before adding some ink with a Sponge Dauber. I chose to use Terracotta Tile, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight inks and added a very small amount of glycerine to the sponge daubers to allow for smoother blending. The Terracotta Tile has an underlying soft peach tone to it, perfect for sunsets. You will see in the video that I worked from light to dark, bottom to top. It is a great effect and worth a bit of practice; the glycerine really helps.

Because I wanted the Palm Trees and Sentiment to be REALLY black, so opted to use Black Embossing Powder. I used a LOT of Embossing Buddy over the inked area to make sure that it was fully dry. Now, it is almost impossible to see where you have stamped the tree trunks to line up the leaves. I decided that I would just accept that I was going to get black powder on my leaf stamp, so added the powder to the trunk before stamping the leaves. Because the Friend Like You stamps are photopolymer, they can be washed, so removing the extra powder is no issue. The finished effect is just what I was looking for.
The final step was to add a frame around the image. Using the Stitched Rectangles, I die cut two frames from Thick Whisper White before gluing them together and adhering them to the card. And that was it. All finished. As I am a bit of a fan of silhouettes, I can see myself using the Friends Like You stamp set a lot. I hope you like it, if you would like to leave a comment, I would love to hear from you. You can see the other members of the hop in the list below, so why not take a look at what the others have made.
