On To Adventure Retirement Box? You probably know that I am really enjoying the On To Adventure stamp set. I have already used it for a number of projects, but then it hit me, there are four stamps, so that means one for each side of a box.
The boxes I am sharing are very similar to each other and are both fairly standard when it comes to box construction. The difference is that I am adding double mats on each of the four sides and then running the ribbon underneath the mats. Well, to be absolutely correct, I am actually tying the ribbon and THEN adding the mats with Dimensionals. I love the extra dimension that the mats add to the box. Just think how this could look if you were to use Christmas stamps and foil for the mat layers. Imagine how wonderful they would look on a Christmas Dinner Table! Or how about using Black Foil and Halloween Stamps – I may have to give this a go myself. Keep your eyes peeled!
I tried to keep the colouring of the images pretty simple and chose to use Blends. This is made easier because the stamps have shading ‘built in’, so you only have to add your chosen colours. I kept my colours pretty limited and included Light Bermuda Bay, which is almost the same colour as Coastal Cabana. As I wanted some other pops of colour, I went with Lovely Lipstick, you can’t get much more of a pop than that. I die cut the images with the second largest of the Stitched Shapes squares. This is the perfect size to layer on a 2-1/4″ mat. That then mats perfectly on a 2-1/2″ square box. It’s almost like I planned it that way!!
My original intention had been to use the same ribbon on both boxes, but unfortunately I forgot to check how much I had before I started. But that is fine, the projects work just as well with either. The finishing touch was one of the Clear Epoxy Drops for the Camera Lens. I really do think this would be a great gift for anyone, but certainly for a retiring couple!
