Inspiring Iris But Where is the Iris? Well, to be honest, nowhere! This card uses the Inspiring Iris Stamp Set, but I needed the smaller stamps, so only selected to use the Rose and Carnation images, as well as the small floral to just fill in any gaps. The key to this simple card is to use a mask (just a scrap of paper will do) across the middle of the card and an extra scrap to protect the side you are not stamping on.
My original sample uses Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green and So Saffron inks for a really bright and ‘zingy’ card. Finished off with one of the sentiments across the middle section and a few Glitter Enamel Dots for the final flourish. I mounted the white layer on a So Saffron mat and then on a Melon Mambo card base. Who would think those colours would work together, but the do.
For the card we made together I switched out the Melon Mambo and So Saffron for Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape for a tone on tone card. I had learnt from the original card that I needed to press the stamps more ‘definitely’ when they overlap the mask. If you don’t you can end up without the clean edge that really makes this card. You can see in my original that the So Saffron images are not all crisp. Happily a little more pressure solved the issue and the purple card has the clean finish I was looking for. Take a look at the video to see how I achieved the final look of these cards.
For the Purple version I used a Gorgeous Grape Mat and a Highland Heather card base. The Glitter Enamel Dots are also Gorgeous Grape. Two cards to send to someone to let them know that you are thinking about them. Perfect, and not an Inspiring Iris in sight!!
