Freaky Friday – Coffin Treat Boxes – Open if you dare! I am still loving everything Halloween, especially the Monster Bash Suite. TOday I grabbed a couple of the Coffin Treat Boxes. Not only did I have such fun making these, but they are so quick to put together. If you are one of my existing Customers you should already have our Autumn/Winter Catalogue, so you can see that there are 12 of these boxes in each pack. They come pre-scored and die cut, so all you have to do is burnish the folds, add adhesive and you have a perfect little Coffin Treat Box.
Me being me, I had to step these up, so I started by ageing the boxes with the addition of some Frost White Simmer Paint. To give a wonderful spooky silvery shine, I applied a small amount with a Sponge Dauber. I have cut myself a couple of templates that I can draw around to get perfect mats for the top of my coffins. I simply drew round the bottom of the coffin and then cut the first one slightly smaller than the shape. By repeating the process and cutting the second one even smaller, I have now got 2 perfect templates for matting. I cut the larger on in Crushed Curry and the smaller one in the spider patterned Designer Series Paper. Of course I had to age both layers with the shimmer paint!
Before adding the mats with our new Black Dimensionals, I tied a length of Crushed Curry Crinkled Seam Binding, the perfect match for the Crushed Curry mat. I continued with the Crushed Curry and Silver theme by adding the sentiment on Basic Gray card, with Silver Heat Embossing and matted on Crushed Curry, aged with the shimmer paint again.
I felt the coffin needed a bit of glamour, so die cut one of the scrolled label dies in Silver Foil, stuck that to the top of the box and then layered the other dies up using more of the Black Dimensionals. These really turned out better than I could have imagined. But I have to remember that Stampin’ Up! make it so easy to coordinate products because all the colours are so true.
