Don’t know what to do with you Laser-Cut Paper? This will help. Well I hope it will! Last week I gave you some suggestions about how to cut one of the designs of the new Laser-cut paper. This paper is AMAZING. It is Shimmer Very Vanilla on one side and matt Whisper White on the other. I had to force myself to adhere the shimmer side down, it felt like a crime!
Today I have a few (lots) cards to share with you using both items from the ‘cut apart’ sheet and one of the full 12 x 12″ sheets. It is best to take a look at the video for this, but I did use three of the cut apart pieces to make four, yer four, cards. From the full 12 x 12″ sheet I managed to make a further 7 cards. I accept that using the full sheet did take time, but oh wow, are the results worth the time?!
All you need to do is roughly cut out pieces from the 12 x 12″ sheet that are a little larger than a standard card mat. Add small amounts of liquid adhesive to the back of the laser-cut paper and then lay your mat on top. Trim any overhanging areas with scissors and check that any laser-cut area near the edges is well adhered.
Once I had made about five cards, I did have a few odd shaped pieces left, so chose a larger piece first and added smaller pieces to fill the whole card. One card has laser-cut pieces just on one corner. It is such fun playing with all the bits. A few lucky people will be receiving these once I have added sentiments on the outside and inside.
I used one of the cut apart pieces as a mask to use with a sponge brayer. It was simple to tack it down (white side up!) to your card mat with some washi tape and then add ink with a sponge brayer. Remove the mask and then trim the mat to size and add to the front of your card. You can then use the shimmer Very Vanilla side of the piece for the front of a second card. I decided to use Pretty Peacock for both the inking as as the mat for the second card. This meant that if there was any ink showing on the ‘mask’ piece it would blend in.
