#Simplestamping Saturday meets Waterfront for a Great Father’s Day Card. Welcome to my last Father’s Day project AND another #Simplestamping Saturday. First thing I must say is that in yesterday’s video I STUPIDLY said that Father’s Day is on 17th June, it is NOT, as the lovely Margaret Page reminded me in her YouTube comment. I always say my videos include the mistakes too!!

#Simplestamping Version

After the excitement of yesterday’s slider card, we are back to a more standard card today and, as ever, we are starting by using one of our Note Cards and Envelopes. Today is a Very Vanilla project and, as I have said, we are using the Waterfront Stamp Set. I started by stamping the sentiment so I knew there would be space! Next I took full advantage of the wonderful Stampin’ Up! ink that gives you so many shades of the same colour, just by stamping off. So, using 3 generations of Soft Suede ink has given me the different mountains. The water behind the trees is second generation and full strength Pool Party. Both the trees and the grass they are standing on are Mossy Meadow. The trees are full strength and the grass is third generation. Oh, and lets not forget the So Saffron sun that is second generation, and the trees on the envelope, which is third generation Mossy Meadow.

Casual Version

For the first stepped up version, I added Pear Pizzazz card stock for the base and some Copper Foil for the mat layer. The stamped layer is still in Very Vanilla, but this time on the wonderful smooth card. For some interest on the card base I used the splatter stamp and went tone on tone with Pear Pizzazz ink. I also used the Pear Pizzazz ink for the grass under the trees, as I was using it anyway. The stamping was the same, although on a slightly smaller base. Some Copper Trim finished the card off well, says she who shouldn’t!

Avid Version

And now for the fully stepped up version. Time for a bit of a confession too. I first saw the idea of using an Aqua Painter to make the Waterfront images look even more like they are water coloured on a video that the AMAZING Dena Rekow shared. It was fantastic, but try as I might, I can’t find it on her website. So, using watercolour card, stamp the images as before. Then, take an Aqua Painter and ‘melt’ the ink to move it about a bit. The result is much nearer to water colouring, and is such fun. I changed the sentiment for this card, pulling the ‘Father’s Day’ from Well Said. I also added a Mossy Meadow layer to the matting, just to step it up a bit more.
