Scrapbooking Global June 2019 Blog Hop – Birthdays and Parties. I am delighted that I am taking part in another Global Scrapbooking Blog Hop, so many thanks for joining me again today, either direct onto my website, or as part of the hop.
The Theme of Birthdays & Parties was chosen by our Guest Designer Marga Bultena. Oh, and before I forget, if you are in the UK and would like any of the items I have used today, you will find a list further down the page. In fact, if you want any Stampin’ Up! products, I would be delighted if you chose to shop with me.
Yesterday I mentioned that if you came back today, you would see how I was intending to use the remainder of the Pressed Petals cut apart sheet. I have chosen a vintage photo as the focus for my Scrapbook Page, so the Pressed Petals papers have just the right feel. The scary thing though, is that it is a picture of my fourth Birthday party, and I am using the word ‘vintage’! Surely I can’t be THAT old!! The photo was taken in November 1963, so it is quite a long time ago, even if I hate to admit it.
Because the papers work on a Very Vanilla background, I printed my photo in sepia tones, rather than classic Black & White. This helps to keep everything sitting well together. It is a great tip to remember if you ever find that your chosen papers and your chosen photo seem to be ‘fighting’. Either print in a different monotone, or, for colour photos, print in Black & White.
I started by cutting down my background paper and mounting it on a piece of Mossy Meadow 12 x 12” card. Using the new Scripty 3D embossing folder on a 6 x 6” piece of Crumb Cake so there would be something a little plainer too.
I often start with a strip across the middle of my page, about 1/3 from an edge, and this is how I started this page, using the strip from the cut apart page. This helps to ‘ground’ the page. I added some of the washi tape that is part of the suite, this helps with the ‘grounding’ too.
As I needed somewhere to add some journaling, I used one of the pages from the Pressed Petals Journal. This may seem like a sin, but the pages are perforated so this is really easy, so it was only a small sin. The page came together quite quickly, just by adding all the layers, none of which are straight. This helps to make this a more casual layout, and is part of how it keeps it quick. The finishing touches were some of the washi petals, some metallic pearls and one of the stamps from the Praiseworth Prose stamp set, cut up and added on tiny pieces of Dimensionals. Oh, and of course, I had to add a die cut ‘FOUR’!
I hope you enjoyed visiting my site today, please take the time to watch the video before completing the hop (just hit the NEXT button below to see the next project.
