Make it Up Monday Team Challenge Above The Clouds. Today I have one of those really scary projects for you. These are the ones where I have no sample that I have had time to make as perfect as possible. All I have today is a picture from our Demonstrator only Magazine, Stampin’ Success. There is an article in the latest edition about CASEing. CASEing is taking an existing project and copying some aspects of it. Some of the suggested projects are pictured below, and it is these that I have CASEd today.
I have substituted the Above the Clouds Stamp Set and Punch Bundle for the two examples provided in the magazine. Although neither card is square, mine is, for me the proportions seemed to work perfectly using that format. My colour palette embraces shades of Teal, with just a small hint of Smoky Slate in the background. So, I started with half a sheet of 12 x 12″ Pool Party Card, which makes a perfect 6 x 6″ Card Base.
So, for the strips across the back of the card, I covered a piece of Whisper White card cut at 5-1/2″ x 5″ with clouds in 2nd and 3rd generation Smoky Slate Ink, after all, you need a good day to fly a balloon! You need to make sure you stamp this in portrait so the clouds are the right way up. Cut the 5″ length in strips 1-1/4″ wide and adhere these to the card base, spacing them out to form a 5-1/2″ square.
Next, I took another piece of Whisper White cut to my usual 2nd layer mat size. This I covered in small balloons stamped in Pool Party with Coastal Cabana over the top. By the way, I should have stamped the outlines first and filled in with the solid; it is easier that way. Generally, it is good to remember to stamp both the clouds and the balloons off the edges of the card; it looks really odd otherwise.
The large balloon is Bermuda Bay for the outline and Coastal Cabana for the solid (in that order again), with a 1st and 2nd generation Smoky Slate basket. Remember to stamp the balloon and basket so they are easy to punch out using the punch. Now, the final piece of stamping is in Pretty Peacock and punched with the Classic Label Punch. I popped up the balloon background and the Balloon, Basket and Sentiment, so this is not going to be a cheap card to post! Finally, I added some Glitter Enamel Dots, also in Coastal Cabana, just for a few hints of bling. Oh, but I forgot! I also stamped inside the card, for once!
