Welcome to Case the Catalogue Fortnight – Enjoy Life! I will give you some more information about the idea behind Case the Catalogue Fortnight tomorrow, but this is the first day. And I have a fantastic project for you, lifted from page 59 of the 2018-19 Catalogue, featuring the Enjoy Life stamp set.
You should now by know that I love watercolour backgrounds, so the projects on page 59 just drew me in. It is such an easy, but stunning effect to do. Because I wanted a very ‘wet’ wash, I used reinkers, rather than the lid of ink pads, but you could use either. The colours I used were, from the top, Powder Pink, Calypso Coral and Mango Melody. I used Shimmer White Card Stock as I wanted very ‘solid’ black silhouettes, so the smooth finish is easier than Watercolour Paper.
I am not a great fan of Stazon Ink with Photopolymer stamps, but for the really black, black it is the best ink. As the images in Enjoy Life are all silhouettes, you need solid stamping. It also means you can stamp first and then do your wash. Of course the Stamparatus helps with both positioning and restamping for a really black look. The Sentiment is in Poppy Parade, and I used the Shimmery White (and Stamparatus) again.
The card base is Powder Pink, and I added some Powder Pink Stamping too, for a subtle tone on tone look. Lots of Rose Metallic Thread behind the sentiment lifts it off the page (as do the Dimensionals, but in a differnt way!) I am thrilled this is carrying over, as is the Silver, but the Copper and Gold are NOT!
The finishing touch was some of the Grapefruit Grove Faceted Dots, the colour is very similar in tone to the Powder Pink, so there isn’t too much contrast. By the way, these are NOT carrying over either, so if you love them, you know what to do!
