Hugs From Shelli Paper Pumpkin Alternative Projects. Wow I had such fun making some alternative projects with the contents of the Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin Kit. Over the years I have seen so many North American Demos make some amazing projects, I knew I had to ‘think outside the box’. I didn’t want to add too many additional products, but did include some Very Vanilla Note Cards and Envelopes and some Ink.
I started with a fairly simple card using one the pink envelope with the flowers. First, I trimmed the envelope down (see how in the video) and then cut it to the size I wanted. If you are not great at measurements, I didn’t measure this, but I knew I wanted a very narrow mat of Early Espresso around it. I simple adhered it to the corner of a scrap of card and then trimmed around it to give me the effect I wanted. I continued to layer this up and then added some Linen Thread before adhering the whole piece to a card front with Dimensionals. First Alternative completed.

I thought it would be fun to make a mini Paper Pumpkin Pizza box, so I chose the floral card. I trimmed 1″ from the edge of the card front (I will use this on another card at some point). Using my Trimmer, and with the card with the floral area to the left, I scored the card, starting with the floral printed area, at 1″, 3-1/2″ and 5″ (you already have a score at 2-1/2″, between the pattern and plain area. Turn the card so the floral area is at the top and score at 1″ from both ends. Watch the video to see how I went on to construct the box. Adding a length of the retiring Lace Trim and a stamped sentiment finished the box off well. It is so cute and a perfect mini Paper Pumpkin Kit.
Time for another envelope project. This time I chose the Pool Party and Feather one. You will see in the video how I measured this to make sure the printed element was in the middle. The envelope piece was layered on some Pretty Peacock card and the sentiment stamped in matching Ink. Because I am a Demonstrator, I get to order the new products early and at a discount! A stamped feather, coloured with Blends and fussy cut before being added. A double Linen Thread bow finished the project off. So cute and so easy. Number 3 completed.
I think the Bird Nest card is so cute. I trimmed this down to 3-1/4″ x 4-3/4″ (8 x 12cm)and layered it on the Pool Party back piece from the script card base, trimmed down to 3-3/8″ x 4-7/8″ (8.25 x 12.25cm). Before adhering the pieces together, I stamped the ‘Hugs’ sentiment on the Pool Party Piece in Early Espresso before punching out with the 1-3/8″ Scalloped Circle Punch. To add some colour to the image, I coloured the leaves and eggs with the Chalk Marker before adding Old Olive and Pool Party with Stampin Write Markers (you could use a Blender Pen and the Ink Pads). The layers were adhered to a Note Card before adding the sentiment with a Dimensional.
The final Alternative uses the back of the Nest Card as a mat, the striped Pool Party envelope and the Script Card base. The Crumb Cake and Pool Party Stripe are cut to the same size as the previous card. As with the previous card, I stamped the sentiment on the mat before punching out. This time I used the new Timeless Punch, coming soon. The Script Print was trimmed down to 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ Make sure the script runs across the short edge. I aged the edge of the Script Piece (see the video for how) and added some Pretty Peacock Ink with a Sponge Dauber. After adding this to the layers, I added a short length of the included Pretty Peacock Velvet Ribbon and then the sentiment over that.
5 Paper Pumpkin Alternative projects, and so many more ideas buzzing around my head. I just wish I could do this every month, but at the moment the Paper Pumpkin subscription is only available in North America. If it is really popular in the UK we may be able to persuade Stampin’ Up! to bring it over here. Fingers crossed.
