Fingers Crossed Sailing Home Arrived in Time! There are times when I am really organised and I get ahead with my crafting. This week does not appear to be one of those times. Yesterday was my brother’s birthday, so why on earth did I wait until Tuesday to make his birthday card? I mean seriously, I have known the date of his birthday for more than a few years, so you would think I could plan ahead, but ‘no’ I failed. His card was posted at 4pm on Tuesday and I just hope it arrives in time for his birthday!
I had a great time making this card. I am in a bit of a watercolour was mood at the moment, so decided to have a go at a card I had spotted on Pinterest. Normally I would give credit to the original artist, but there is no water mark and the link in the pin takes you to a page about marijuana, so clearly not the right site!!
The wash background for both the card and the tag, is on Watercolour Paper as there is quite a lot of water needed. The colours are Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Night of Navy. I used Ink Refills so I had enough ink, this was then picked up with an Aqua Painter and simply swept across the paper.
You do need to leave everything to dry fully before you stamp the tag with the larger of the two boat images in the Sailing Home Stamp set, using full strength Night of Navy. The inside used the smaller boat and the birds in second generation Night of Navy, while the sentiment was full strength.
I used the, soon to be available, new Delightful Tag Topper and the carried over Detailed Trio corner rounder to finish off the tag, adding some Baker’s Twine, with knots at the ends, was the finishing touch to the tag construction.
The card needed something to ‘ground’ everything, so I die cut some of the rope images from the Smooth Sailing Dies. I love these because they emboss at the same time. The Copper foil was a perfect addition; Navy and Copper is such a great combination. Because I had added the Copper Foil, I decided to use some of the copper sequins from the, soon to go, Metallic Sequin Assortment. All that was left was to build up the layers.
Such a simple idea and such a great effect that could be used for so many cards. Simply change the colours and the stamp set and you will have a totally different look.
