Farewell Floral Phrases. That was almost alliteration! Continuing my CASE the Catalogue fortnight, today we are on page 109 of the retiring Annual Catalogue. I have CASEd the Powder Pink card, but changed it up so it is in some of the other Retiring InColors. The Berry Burst background make this a really bold card, but you can still see the original design in it.
The first thing to do is to make a Mask for the Embossing Paste. I grabbed some Window Sheet and Washi Tape. To get the right placement for the 2 areas of the die, I placed a mat the size I was working with, behind the window sheet. Everything was stuck in place with the Washi Tape before running through the die cutting machine. I used the Precision Base Plate as Window Sheet is quite resistant to dies.
The embossing was a very similar process, but this time the mat was covered with the mask, which was attached to the work surface with Washi. I applied the Embossing Paste carefully to reduce the amount of paste that went under the mask. REMEMBER you need to clean up quickly. The paste will set hard in no time, so get the mask and knife into water as soon as you can.
Next it was a simple case of die cutting some of the floral and leaf images from the die and then cutting them away from the excess card. You can see in the video how I put the card together.
I accept that this card is for a really Avid crafter, but if that is you, why not give it a go. Any die that leaves pieces attached in this way can be used to make a mask, so why not have a look at what you have already got, or get the die I used, and give it a go.
