One Stamp at a Time Spring Fling Blog Hop. Welcome to our April Blog Hop, if you are hopping along with us, you will probably have seen Sara’s project already.
Our Theme this Month is ‘Spring Fling’ which has so many possibilities, it almost made my brain spin trying to decide what to make. Then I decided I was in the mood to get a bit messy. I dug out my rather ignored Brusho Crystal Colours and had a play with Glossy White Card, Champagne Mist and lots of colour. Now, there is something worth remembering if you are using any colour on Glossy White Card, particularly if this includes any moisture. The finish that makes the card glossy includes white powder, so your colours will dry softer than they initially appear, almost as if they are the pastel version.
Having got really messy I decided to die cut the collection of Butterflies from the Butterfly Beauty set (this bundles with the Beauty Abounds Stamps, so saves you 10% if you use the bundle number). I mounted this piece on the other die cut that I had cut from Black Foil. This gave me lots of contrast, which is just what I wanted.
I had to think quite hard about what to do next. If the mat had too much colour it would detract from the butterflies, and after all the time they took, that was not what I wanted. I picked out some of the softer colours from the final piece, matching them to our ink colours. Using the Bokeh Dot stamps that are in the set, I stamped my own background using first and second generation stamping. Take a look at the video for lots of information on how to avoid a common mistake when using this technique.

I wanted a little more contrast, so pulled Blackberry Bliss Ink and the splatter stamp. I used second generation ink to give a little more contrast to the background. Having first mounted the butterflies on Dimensionals, I added this to the front of the mat. Next I added them to the card blank. I love the final look, I don’t think it needs anything more.
With the leftover glossy card, I die cut all the small butterflies from the die set and added these to the sides and top of a Clear Tiny Treat Box, just for fun.
