#Simplestamping Saturday – By the Bay Emergency Crafting Kit. This was always going to be a challenge. How would I be able to bring you 3 projects using the same layout, but that addressed #simplestamping, Casual Crafting and Avid Crafting using my Emergency Crafting Kit? I could get my head around the first two, but the Avid version was going to be a challenge. To be honest, I am not convinced that it is truly an Avid Crafter project, but given the restrictions I think I have done as well as I could.

I still only have the 2 stamps sets to chose from, and as my last project used Home to Roost, I pulled By the Bay and the scene stamp. The #Simplestamping version is indeed simple. I used a Narrow Note Card and Envelope and only the main image and a sentiment. Both stamps were inked up using Soft Suede Ink from the Stampin’ Write Marker; at home you could use a full ink pad, which would be easier. Of course, because this is a #Simplestamping Saturday project, I also stamped the envelope using the same ink and the shell image. A perfect fit for the envelope flap.

The Casual Crafter version uses some more of the Delightfully Detailed Note Cards and Envelopes. I used Soft Suede Ink again, and ‘moved’ some of it around using a Blender Pen. The sentiment is stamped on one of the Stickers from the Memories & More Card Pack, which is then ‘popped’ up on some Dimensionals.

Now the Avid Crafter Challenge! I have used one of the cards from the Memories & More Card Pack, but added some additional colours to the card so there are some definite areas of colour. Happily they ended up in almost exactly the right places, but trust me when I was this was dumb luck! I wanted some Mint Macaron watercolour to stamp the sentiment on. Just sweeping the Stampin’ Write Marker across a piece of card was far too dark for the effect I wanted.

Back to the good old Clear Block Watercolour technique. After sweeping the marker across the whole block I sprinkled it with some water and dropped a strip of Whisper White card on it. The effect was just what I wanted and, with the help of the hotel hairdryer, was soon dry. All of the Avid stamping is in Blackberry Bliss to tie in with the printed card. You will see that I trimmed the sentiment piece to an arrow point, just because I did not like the look of a square edge.

So, did I fill the brief? I am not totally convinced, but I think given the limitations I did a reasonable job. What do you think?
