By The Bay Delightfully Detailed Colour Block Note Card. I mentioned yesterday that working with very limited supplies means that ‘Mother is the Necessity of Invention’. Today is one of the cards that this is applies to. I started by scribbling Stampin’ Write Markers on to a D Block to form a ‘Sunset over Water’ look. Now, please bear in mind that I had no Stampin’ Spritzer, Aqua Painter or other way of applying a small amount of water. So, first ‘Mother of Invention’ moment, is lots of water on my hand, being ‘flicked’ over the block. Then the ‘fingers. crossed’ moment as I applied the inked block to some Whisper White Card. It worked!
Once this piece was fully dry, I inked up the Seagulls with the Basic Black Stampin Write Marker and hoped for the best. Happily I am really pleased with the result. The placement was almost exactly where I wanted it, helped by using the new Cling Mount Stickers on the back of the stamp, knowing that the stamps are going to ‘cling’ to the block makes placement so much easier. Then it was time for some careful cutting with my Snips. My Trimmer did not make it into the ‘Norwegian Emergency Craft Kit’.
I wanted to mount the stamped piece on some Blackberry Bliss Card Stock. One slight problem! Yes, you guessed it, no coloured card stock made the cut. No problem, if you are careful, you can use Stampin’ Write Markers, Blends are better, but Markers work too. Just don’t add too many layers of ink at once or the card might ‘pill’. I ran the marker along the edge of the mount only, so the centre of the card is still white. This layer was also cut by hand, or ‘Snips’. Just find a straight edge and cut carefully.
I chose to use one of the Delightfully Detailed Note Cards to mount this on. Having stuck the Colour Block piece on the Blackberry Bliss piece using Snail, I mounted them on the Note Card using Dimensionals. The sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss to tie the card together. I love the final result. What is particularly pleasing is knowing that I could not add any tricks to the card, there were none in my ‘Norwegian Emergency Craft Kit’.
I have some more cards to share with you using the same limited supplies, so do keep coming back to see what I have come up with.
