The Year of the Pig. I know, I am a couple of days late for this. If you watch the video you will understand why. It is all to do with not spoiling a surprise card. In short, the day AFTER Chinese New Year we were having lunch with some friends who celebrate this event. As we are now in the Year of the Pig, I wanted to share a card with a pig on it. This Little Piggy stamp set and a couple of Stampin’ Blends seemed ideal.
I wanted there to be some patterned paper behind the stamped image I had a look at what smaller pieces I had. I found some of the Petal Promenade DSP in just the right size, including one of the border pieces that had been sitting waiting for a project. The DSP was in Petal Pink, the same as the colours I had chosen for the Pig, I knew I had found the right paper. The piece was a little too narrow for the card, but I realised that if I cut the border strip and added that either side, it would work.
I trimmed a piece of Whisper White to the right size for the image I wanted to stamp. I used Tuxedo Black Memento ink for both the pig and the sentiment. To make sure the ink was fully dry before I did the colouring, I actually did the stamping before finishing adhering the patterned paper. The words I wanted were on a stamp that had additional text, so I made sure that I covered the words I did not want with a post-it note before I inked it up. Do remember to remove the post-it before you stamp! Ask me how I know!

The image looked a little lost, even once I had coloured it in, so I added a Petal Pink Mat. I trimmed the sentiment with the Classic Label Punch and added a layer of Petal Pink behind that too. One finishing touch was to add some of the Artisan Pearls, which come in Petal Pink. Then I thought it would be fun to add a pig to the front of the envelope. I inked up in Petal Pink and I was done. What a fun card. Perfect for the Year of the Pig.
