Nine Lives – #simplestamping Saturday. Sometimes things can take an odd turn. I planned this project and made the video a few days ago. Little did I know at the time that one of our cats would decide to go on an adventure on Valentine’s Day and scare my husband and I to death (not literally you understand!) Our black cat, Pepper, went out at about 6am on 14th February and did not make an appearance at all until about 7pm. This is most unlike him, particularly as he had not eaten in the morning. This is a cat that is ruled by food and a comfy bed.

But back to #Simplestamping Saturday and my Nine Lives projects. As ever I have made my Simple version using just a Note Card and Envelope. This is a very simple car using just 2 ink pads for the actual card, 3 if you include the stamping on the envelope. The outline cat is just so cute as he is that I was not even tempted to colour him in. Add a sentiment and some hearts and the card was done. The envelope just uses the 2-Step Stamp image of the mouse. I stamped the outline first and then filled in with Crumb Cake. Very cute.

For the Casual version I moved up to a standard A6 card and added some additional layers (you will find the dimensions of these at the bottom of this post. I turned my cat image into a Tortoiseshell (I think they are Calico in the USA?) using the ‘wet wipe’ technique, just by making an ink pad from a folded wet wipe and some drops of Re Inker. To get the right colours for our Tortoiseshell (Mustard), I chose Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze and Early Espresso. It worked like a dream.

The key to using the stamp and the punch is to make sure that the stamps are fully ‘relaxed’ before you mount them on a block. Simply take them of their sheet and place them on some paper, face down. Leave them for a couple of minutes and then pick them up with the block. This will mean they are positioned correctly.

I added the ball of wool image, some ribbon and punched the cat before popping it up on with Dimensionals. For the Avid version I also added Gold Thread and some Heart Epoxy Droplets coloured with the Dark Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend. I hope you agree the the end result is some really cute cards.
