Humming Along Heavenly Watercolour. I had originally planned to share this project with you tomorrow, but I am so excited by it that I really need to get it out in the open now! I knew exactly how I wanted the card to look, but that does not always mean that what is in my head will appear on the card. This one worked out fine. In fact it worked out great!!
I am a huge fan of heat embossing and I love to use it when I am water colouring. The Stamparatus is a great tool to use for this. It gives you the chance of stamping the image repeatedly to make sure there is enough Versamark. The embossing helps to keep the water in the right place, it acts a bit like a dam. I start by flooding the area with water using an Aqua Painter. The key is to repeat this twice as the first pass is likely to be absorbed by the paper. Once you are happy that the water is sitting on the surface of the card, add a small amount of ink to the area you want darkest; let the water do the work of spreading the colour.
The background is incredibly simple. I used watercolour paper for this too. Sweep lots of water across the card in the area you want the colour. Again, make sure that there is water sitting on the surface before you add the colour. The card will have a shine to it when there is enough water. When the card is ready, add the colour, just as before, starting in the areas you want the most colour. I chose to add colour at both sides and let it wash towards the middle so there was only a light shade in the middle.
The watercolour background was added to a mat of Copper Foil. I ‘gutted’ the foil so I could use the middle piece on other projects. The copper works so well with the Pacific Point base and the bright colours of the main card. Once the images had been die cut, it was a simple job to pop them up on Dimensionals. Card done and EXACTLY as it was in my head. Don’t you love when that happens? I think I am in love with the Humming Along set and can see more projects coming!
