Shimmer Paint Stamping from Stampin’ Up! – How To. Have you spotted these fantastic Shimmer Paints? They are on page 38 of the Autumn Winter Catalogue and are the prettiest paints I have seen for a long while. They are useful for all kinds of things, including adding to alcohol or water in a Stampin’ Spritzer and spraying on card, boxes, all sorts. You will have seen me use them in this way a number of times if you are a regular visitor to my website. Today I am talking stamping with Shimmer Paint. Because you can. You can also add colour to the Shimmer Paints to get even more from them.
In the video I show you how to stamp with pure Shimmer Paint by using a Sponge Dauber to add it to the stamp. I also show you how to add some colour by mixing a drop of re-inker with the paint. The different effects you can get depending on the colour of Shimmer Paint you use is fantastic. The clean up is a little involved as you need to make sure you clean your stamps BEFORE the paint drys. I use a wet wipe to get the worst of the ink off, and then the good old Stampin’ Scrub with Stampin’ Mist. Give it a really good scrub to make sure you get ALL the paint off.
What I don’t mention in the video is that you can use it on the Santa Bags in the Santa’s Workshop Suite. Once you have stamped you can heat set the paint with a hot iron. I suggest a piece of fabric between the sack and the iron so you protect your iron from any paint stain. Just in case!!
