First Frost Birthday Card Die Cut Overload. The end of October and beginning of November have always been busy for our family. My Mother (who we sadly lost earlier this year) had her Birthday on 31st October. My Birthday is 1st November, and my Sister-in-Law has her’s on 3rd November! This year will be a little difficult without my Mother with us, but we have planned a family get together, so will have fun. By the time you read this post, the event will have happened and the recipient of the large version of today’s project will have received it.
I love the Frosted Floral Designer Series Paper, it is stunning, but for the project I had in mind, it was a little too bright. That is where Vellum comes in. A layer of Vellum will tone down whatever is underneath, but it does mean you have to work out how to adhere it. Adding lots of die cuts, using the First Frost Stamps, to the front of the vellum gives you a good choice of where to add glue.

To keep the slightly washed out look I used second generation stamping with the First Frost Stamps on lots of the images. This means you keep the intensity of the colour, but in a more subtle way. Not all inks have enough pigment to make this possible, but the Stampin’ Up! Classic Inks are brilliant for this. Some colours will give you 3 or 4 generations. Love it! The sentiment was from Perennial Birthday with Soft Sea Foam behind it. Adding this extra stamping, again, softened the look.
