Classic Stampin’ Pad from Stampin’ Up! – How To. I was staggered by the response I have had from the post I did on how to set up a new Classic Stampin’ Pad from Stampin’ Up! So I thought you might all be interested in some more information and help on all the inks that we have available. The first of these is following on from setting up the Classic Ink Pad, to actually using it.
The Classic Ink is probably the ink pad that most of us reach for. There are 50 colours of ink in this style of pad, split into 5 Colour Families. Four of the Families are pretty static and don’t have changes of colour that often. There was a major Colour Revamp at the start of the current Annual Catalogue in June. This fell in line with the 30th Anniversary of the company, so was a great time to have a look at any changes. The colours that are bound to change every 2 years are the In Colors. There are 5 new ones each year and they are held in the catalogue for 2 years. There are 2 sets of In Colors at any given time. One will be in its first year and one in its second and final year.
Classic Ink is a water-based, dye ink and is non toxic and acid free. It has a firm foam pad, so you only need to tap your stamp on it gently to transfer the ink. There is no need to press hard, if you do, you may damage the pad. It stamps well on uncoated papers, but will not work well on slick surfaces, such as Gloss White or Window Sheet. If you are very quick you can add embossing powder on your stamped image, particularly if your ink pad is new, or has just been re inked. You can also use and Aqua Marker or Blender Pen to pick up ink and use it as a paint. You can also use it with Stampin’ Blends once it is fully dry, although there may be a small amount of ‘bleed’.
All the Classic Ink colours are available as a an ink refill. I highly recommend ordering an ink refill at the same time as your ink pad so you never find yourself with a dry ink pad. There is nothing worse than having to stop crafting to wait for one to arrive. It is also worth remembering that if you order a whole colour family of Ink Pads or Ink Refills and use the ‘Bundle’ Code, you will get a 10% discount; ten for the price of nine! The only exception to this is the ink refills for the In Colors, which are availabe, but not at a ‘Bundle’ price. Pads yes, refills no.
Clean up is easy. Either the Simply Shammy or the Stampin’ Scrub will do a fantastic job for you.
Please feel free to ask me any questions about the Classic Ink Pad. I will be happy to help. I am going to cover other types of ink in the coming weeks, so come back for more.
