Brilliant Technique – An Old One, but a Great One with the baby wipe technique. Last week I had a fantastic evening crafting with some of the ladies from a local Women’s Institute Group (WI). I had been booked to ‘talk’ at their meeting almost a year ago, so it was great to finally get to visit. The particular group are in a very small village near where I live. Let it be said, as a London Girl, I thought our village was small and rural. Well, the one I was going to was that and more. Fortunately I allowed lots of time to get to the village hall, so arrived before it got dark. An early arrival also meant that I managed to park outside the hall.
I had met one of the ladies before, but other than that, I had no idea how much crafting any of them had done. This was a time for preparation, preparation and a bit more preparation. I made up card kits for them all and used two very simple designs. My aim was that they would all finish the two cards so they had a good experience. The first card, which I am sharing with you today, uses the baby wipe technique and the fantastic Wishing You Well Stamp set.
As I had been told that I should avoid Christmas Projects, I went for an Autumnal feel. I used Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and a small amount of Crushed Curry for the ‘stamp pad’. If you are not sure what I am talking about here, you can watch the video, but basically, you take a baby wipe, fold it in four and add drops of Ink Refill to make your own stamp pad. It is a great technique and you can keep the pad in a stamp case for a few days before it gives out.
I know that using a baby wipe is not great these days, but it is such a great technique, and is really good with a large group. It is a particularly good technique if you are not totally sure how many people you are expecting. You can make any number of ‘pads’ just by using another baby wipe.
Come back tomorrow to see the other project I showed the ladies. This one is a stunner, and really easy!
