Take a Dull Notebook and Make it Stunning! I have shown this before, but it can take a revisit. Start with a simple block notebook (mine was 20p from Wilko, but don’t tell anyone!) Cut the cover off and then replace it with something really, really pretty. I have given the dimensions for the one I made, but I highly recommend that you check them for yours. The notebooks I use are all slightly different, even though they claim to be the same!
I decided to use the Frosted Floral Suite on pages 36 and 37 of the Autumn/Winter Catalogue. I love this suite, it is great for so many occasions. I cut a piece of Mint Macaron Card the width of the notebook and about 2″ longer. I measured the length of the front and the depth and then scored on those measurements. I cut away the paper cover, but left the strip that stuck everything together.
Tear and Tape and liquid adhesive are my recommendations for sticking the card to the notebook. Cut card and paper mats to fit the front, add a matted stamped piece and you are done. I would suggest that you use a strong and flat adhesive to put everything together. As your notebook is likely to be pulled in and out of handbags and pockets you don’t want anything to catch.
My stamped piece used 4 ink colours, most of which I stamped off a few times so they only acted as a background. I added the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss so it really stood out from the background. I was very frugal with the mat for this; I cut it from the middle of the main card mat! This is another, don’t tell anyone moment!)
These little notebooks are a perfect little Thank You, or would be great for a Craft Stall. Really quick and easy to put together and you can make them with any scraps you have.
