Climbing Orchid Team Event Swap

25 September, 2018 by lizyuille Leave a Comment

25 Sep

Climbing Orchid Team Event Swap. At this weekend’s Team Event there were over 80 of us, so swapping with everyone would have been quite an ask. Because of this, we do smaller Swap Groups with just 6 people in each, but making more complex projects. We get to choose the group you make swaps for, and you don’t have to join any of them. The sooner you book for the event, the more choice you get. I booked early and chose Everyday.

One of the challenges I give myself when I do these swaps is to use a set that I have not used much. I think I have used the Climbing Orchid set once so far, so it was waving at me to be used. I spent quite a lot of time on Pinterest looking at real orchids to get some ideas of colours. I was surprised by just how bright some are, and how there are colours in them you would never put together.

So the challenge was on! I picked some fairly clashing colours, and I LOVE them. I wanted the column (in the middle) to have a special finish, so I stamped and heat embossed, twice! I urge you to take a look at the video tutorial for this card. I have some great tips for making multiple die cut cards using the Stamparatus. This is fool proof!

I thought I would add the sentiment on an extra flap, so it is a bit of a surprise for the recipient. I tucked the end under the mat on the inside of the card, so it is nicely covered up. I shaped the end with the Tailored Tag Punch, not an essential step, but it is great for making sure that your swaps are all the same.
