Huge Gift Bag with Matching Tag. It seems and age since I last did a 3D project, but with the Designer Series Paper offer, now seems to be the perfect time to do a huge gift bag. I have chosen to use 2 fairly plain patterns, but you could use a much ‘busier’ one and get stunning results. What about a huge gift bag in Petal Promenade paper? Wouldn’t that be stunning?
The bag uses a whole sheet of paper and takes advantage of the fact there are great patterns on both sides by featuring both on the outside. This is definitely one of those projects where watching the video will be a great idea, because I am not sure the instructions will be easy to write. I will try, so take a look at the bottom of this post and see how I got on. Both of the huge gift bags have matching tags, and they both have an extra piece of cardstock as a ‘floating’ mat. This means you can hide your message from prying eyes.
The ribbon handles on the huge gift bag are simple lengths of ribbon, each threaded through the hole and tied in knots on the inside. I prefer having two pieces of ribbon so they don’t interfere with getting the gift in and out. You could use one longer length if you prefer and just tie the ends together on the inside.
I used the Under the Mistletoe and Best Route Designer Series Papers. The Best Route Suite is featured in my July Craft Box (but note that you will not be able to make this huge bag with the paper in the Box as it is cut at 6 x 12. Come back tomorrow for a gift idea using the items from the Craft Box. There is still time to order the July Craft Box, perfect if you would like to sample some Stampin’ Up! products. Dimensions
Start with a 12 x 12 piece of Designer Series Paper. You need a piece that only has an obvious direction on one side (or neither). If you want this as the fold over on the top of your bag, make sure that it runs from bottom to top as you place it in your Simply Scored Scoring Board, and is face down.
Score at 4, 5-3/4, 9-3/4 and 11-1/2″.
Flip the paper over and make a 1/4 turn so the top is now on the left, score at 2″. You also need to score at 9-1/4″, but only to the 4″ mark, which is the first score line you will come to. Flip it over again score at 10-1/4″.
Flip it over with the 2″ score line at the top and score and the narrowest score line is to the left, score at 1-3/8 and 7-1/8″ BUT only to 9-1/4″, which is 1″ above the last score line.
GOOD LUCK!!
