Small but Elegant!

Small but Elegant! Not every card or project has to be large and with all the ‘bells and whistles’. Sometimes all you need is an image and a small greeting. If those are FREE goodies, even better!

My first proper order from the new catalogue arrived this week, so it gave me a chance to play with some of the sets that I had been waiting to get my hands on. Some had the added advantage of being FREE. Not only did the order include some Host Sets, but there were also some goodies that I got for FREE as a ‘Thank You’ from Stampin’ Up! for sales and recruiting earlier this year. Just another great reason to be a Demonstrator.

The card today features one of each of these FREE goodies. Pressed Flowers is a really lovely Host Set that I knew I ‘needed’ as soon as I saw the new Annual Catalogue back in April. Itty Bitty Greetings is one of the sets I picked for FREE, it covers pretty much every occasion.

I decided to use some of the InColors from last year. Specifically Powder Pink and Fresh Fig. I used both of them as ‘neutrals’ with Whisper White and Black. Rather than cut a piece of Powder Pink card for the stamped piece, I decided to add ink with a dauber. I wanted a softer look, which this technique gave me. Just a simple silhouette of the flower and a tiny greeting, both in Black, and the stamping was done. Adding some Whisper White Baker’s Twine and some dimensionals helped to highlight the stamped piece. Some very light stamping with just the flower head and second generation Powder Pink on the inside. Perfect!

I hope the simplicity of this project helps to prove how simple can really be the best way sometimes. In fact I think that may be my theme for this week. No ‘bells and whistles’, just simple Ink, Paper and Stamps. After all, that is how Stampin’ Up! started!
