I am absolutely thrilled be joining the Creating Kindness Hop this month as the Guest Designer. The theme for this Hop is Colour, so there many options of how to interpret it, and I know the Design Team will have lots of inspiration for you, so please do continue to hop along with us, you will find all the links at the bottom of this post.
As I spend more time at my craft desk that pretty much anywhere else, I can honestly say that colour is one of the most important parts of my life and which colours I choose will depend on the mood I am in and, to a certain extent, the time of the year.
In an almost counter intuitive way, if I am feeling a little low, I try to pick up my mood by using brighter, more vibrant colour, probably from the Brights Collection. If it is a hot summers day, I may try to cool the heat by using the pastel shades of the Subtles Collection. Whatever project I am working on, I will be thinking about the colour first and will work from there to build up the look I am after.
One of my very favourite techniques, that I have not actually used for a long time, is applying ink direct to paper. As this is a special day for me, I thought I would use the technique, and one of my favourite ‘scenes’, a sunset. If I told you just how many photos I have taken of sunsets, well let’s just say there are a lot.
Building up the colours for the picture does take a bit of time, and I am not one for editing my videos, so this is quite long, but I think it is worth watching, I hope you agree.
Having build up the colour all that needed to be added was the stamping, and for this the Stamparatus is perfect because you need to be able to stamp the same image on both the inside and outside of the card, perfectly lined up. Then just die cut an aperture in the front of the card, add a sentiment and a few embellishments.
If you would like to sample some Stampin’ Up! products, why not take a look at my Monthly Craft Box. I am taking orders for the April Craft Box until 14th April. To see what you get for only £20 delivered, take a look here:
